I exclusively breastfed my son for the first half year of his life. I believe that it is very important for his formative years that he get the best nutrition I can give him. When he turned six months, I started him on solid foods by using our blender to puree vegetables like carrots and potatoes. I introduced one food at a time to ensure that he doesn’t have any allergies to it.
At seven months, I also started him on different fruits. My mom says it is wise to start a child with veggies instead of the sweetness of fruits so he won’t learn to refuse the veggies. She’s right. My son now eats happily anything I give him. I’m glad he’s growing up to be a healthy kid.

I sometimes worry about the kids when I need to go on business trips. Being a single mom and far from immediate relatives, I have to rely on our nanny to take care of my children when I’m away. Lately, I’ve become wary of our nanny because I caught her talking sharply to the kids when she thought I was not listening. It made me wonder what else she must be doing when I’m not around.
A colleague suggested I give each child a cell phone so they can reach me anytime. I went online and ordered three discount Nokia cell phones. I gave them to my kids and told them to send me a text message or call me if they need me. Funny, but I felt that I have just bought some peace of mind.

Watching television is a favorite pastime for a lot of people, but sometimes people with analog TV sets want more channels than what they already have. If you want your analog TV sets to receive digital broadcasts, then you need to get a digital TV converter box. This device, which is about the size or a cable box, hooks up a conventional analog television so it can receive and show channels that are digitally broadcasted. This is sometimes called a “set-top converter box” or a “digital TV adapter.”
A typical converter box includes features that allow you to still use a standard analog television even after it is phased out. It has a tuner for a wide range of broadcast channels and subchannels or “multicasts”. It comes with a remote control and a cable to connect the converter box to the analog TV. It has inputs for a VHF and UHF antenna, and outputs for audio and video. It also has a built-in, on-screen electronic program guide, and support for closed captioning.

As someone who deals a lot with sound, I have to have earphones with me all the time. My editing jobs require me to be very careful and precise, especially when I’m splicing audio tracks and background music. Top-of-the-line audio equipment is very reliable but can also do a lot of damage to one’s wallet. Sometimes buying second-hand items are okay, but it’s always a risky thing to do.
I recently got a pair of refurbished Sony headphones from an online store. The package arrived and I was eager to try it out after having experienced a brand new one before. It was working perfectly, but I always had to be careful in handling the headphones because wouldn’t know if it would fall apart if I held it wrong. I’ve been using those headphones for a few months now with minimal hassles, but I can tell that the audio quality is different. Brand new headphones are still more superior, but refurbished items are okay as long as the sellers are reliable.
